Interesting 19th century folk art oil on board Portrait with a rather sinister story.

Note to reverse reads "Portrait of Harry Leigh painted by his friend John Vine in 1872. He did rob and murder Mary Ann Halton of Macclesfield in 1877 and was hanged for his crime".  Leigh was executed at Chester on August 13th 1877.

Painting in very good order. Slight Losses and scuffs to giltwood frame.
